Asking us to date your Deed Poll with a future date
If you would like us to print a specific future date on your Deed Poll, for example, with the date of your marriage, civil partnership or birthday etc, please enter the date in the box. A printed date by us looks so much better than hand writing the date on your Deed Poll when you sign it and it will ensure your Deed Poll is correctly dated.
If you enter Yes in the box and the delivery address is in the UK, we will date your Deed Poll for two working days after we post it i.e. when you should receive it. We will not date a Deed Poll posted to an overseas address unless you specify an exact date, which we suggest should be at least two weeks after posting in case your package is delayed in transit to you.
If you leave No in the box or leave the box blank, we will issue your Deed Poll undated so you will need to write the date in the space provided on your Deed Poll when you sign it.
Please note, we cannot back-date your Deed Poll. We can only date your Deed Poll with a future date, which can be any date from the anticipated delivery date of your Deed Poll documentation. If you request a date that is before the anticipated delivery date, we will issue your Deed Poll dated for two working days after posting.
Please bear in mind that you will not be able to use your Deed Poll to get your documents and records changed to your new name until the date printed on your Deed Poll.
Dating your Deed Poll for your marriage or civil partnership
If you ask us to date your Deed Poll for your marriage or civil partnership, you should not sign your Deed Poll until after your ceremony – either immediately afterwards or later at your reception. You will then keep your Deed Poll document safe until you return from your honeymoon, when you can start the process of letting everyone know of your name change.
