How to obtain evidence of your qualifying benefit
Please use the contact details below to request an up-to-date award notice as evidence of receiving a qualifying benefit, which you can then post to us.
- Income Support, Employment & Support Allowance, Job Seeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit
Call or visit your local Jobcentre Plus. Click here (opens new window) to find the contact details of your local office. - Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit
Call the HM Revenue & Customs Tax Credits Helpline on 0345 300 3900. When you speak to an adviser, it is important you ask for a duplicate award notice and not a copy award notice to be posted to you. Consequently, the award notice will have the date of issue printed on it. You will be asked for your NI number. - Pension Credit
Call the Pension Service on 0800 731 0469. You should ask for a benefit breakdown letter to be posted to you. You will be asked for your NI number. - Universal Credit
Call the Universal Credit Helpline on 0800 328 5644. You should ask for a benefit breakdown letter to be posted to you. - Child Benefit (if someone receives Chid Benefit for you)
The Child Benefit Office does not issue duplicate award notices. Therefore, we will accept seeing an annual award notice or a letter you have from the Child Benefit Office that mentions you by name. Therefore, the requirement mentioned below asking for an award noticed dated within three months does not apply to Child Benefit.
Please note, we need to receive an original award notice, which must be dated within three months of the date we receive it (fax and photocopies are not accepted). We will return your award notice with your Deed Poll documentation.
If you are paying by debit or credit card and your written evidence does not arrive by the time your Deed Poll is due to be posted to you, we will process your application and enclose a claim form with your Deed Poll documentation, which you can return to us at a later date with your award notice for a refund.
If you are paying by cheque and you do not want your application delayed while you wait for your benefit evidence to arrive, please send us full payment for your Deed Poll. We will then process your application and enclose a claim form, which you can return to us at a later date with your award notice for a refund.
